Tuesday Night

What a difference a day makes! J is back! He slept through most of the morning and afternoon. When his Aunt Mary and I returned from dinner, he was very alert and doing his best to communicate with us, mostly through nods, shakes, and pointing. He even gave me a kiss! When we left tonight, he was sitting up in bed.

The general surgeon came in tonight to check on him. He said that it looked like J had turned the corner (for the better.) From here we will begin to ween off the vent and get him moving around more. They would like to get him in a chair tomorrow! He won't be able to talk until he gets a talking valve. That probably won't happen in the next few days. Until then, we will perfect our sign language skills!

Thanks so much for all of your prayers and words of encouragement! They help so much!

Love,

Cara

Good News! I've been waiting to hear something like that for a while. Absolutely awesome! Tell him not to start slacking now. LOL. We know he won't. Make sure that everyone takes care of each other. We are all here for you so don't be afraid to lean on one or all of us......Tell J that Jack Allen asks about him all of the time (so do alot of people here at OS). J didn't know he had so many friends probably. Tell him to keep up the fight.

Cara, I am at work today and Dr. Weiss came in (he's the cardiovascular surgeon who fixed J's aorta at WRMC). He was asking about you guys and I gave him an update. He said to give you his regards and wishes you the best. It is so good to finally get some good news! J will be easier to went from the vent with the trach and it is a lot easier on him with the vent tube out of his mouth. A little scar will be the only reminder that he ever had a trach. Love you and thinking of you constantly. Diane and Richard Back

This is good news indeed!

I ran into Ian B. on Monday in Springfield and he had informed me about Jerry's accident, as Jerry, Ian, and I had all worked together at Heideman. You and Jerry had me over for a very tasty Thanksgiving dinner (2002 if I remember correctly).

Anyhow, I had not talked to Jerry since he left Heideman and was very disappointed to hear about his accident.

We will keep Jerry in our prayers! Good luck... and if you all need anything, just let me know.
